Washington: US President Donald Trump made strong comments on the ongoing war in Ukraine and said that with the support of America and NATO, Ukraine can regain its lost territory. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump openly expressed his anger against Russia and called it a paper tiger. Trump's comments came after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York. He stressed that the people of Ukraine are in great spirits and are constantly improving. Trump wrote, "I believe that with the support of the European Union, Ukraine is in a position to fight and win Ukraine back to its original form."
Trump also suggested that Ukraine could potentially go beyond regaining its pre-war territory. Trump argued that Russia's war efforts have exposed its weaknesses rather than its strengths. He wrote, "Russia has been fighting aimlessly for 3 and a half years. A war that should have taken a real military power less than a week to win. This is not making Russia any different. In fact, it is making them look like paper tigers."
Trump also said that public discontent within Russia could prove decisive. He wrote, "When the people of Moscow and all the major cities, towns, and districts of Russia realize what is really happening in this war, Ukraine will be able to restore its country to its original form, and who knows, maybe even go further." Trump also pointed to Moscow's economic difficulties, citing long lines at petrol stations as evidence of this.
Trump said Putin and Russia are in deep economic trouble, and it's time for Ukraine to act. He also addressed the US role in the conflict, saying his country would continue to provide NATO with weapons so NATO could "do whatever it wants to do with them." However, he concluded his post on a mild note, saying, "In any case, I wish the best for both countries."
